Zlata was born in Riga, Latvia and moved to Germany in 2017. She has started her science journey at the TU Dresden, initially studying molecular biotechnology and then changing to chemistry. During her studies, as a research assistant, she was working with semiconductor nanoparticles in the Eychmüller group (TUD), bioresponsive hydrogels in the Gaitzsch group (IPF) and assisting student practicals. In 2022, she has joined Plietker group for her research internship and master thesis and she stayed in the group for phD studies. She is currently working on development of novel type B PPAP-based anti-infectives with a focus on the increase of their bioavailability and their bioactivity against gram-negative bacteria. Outside the lab Zlata enjoys strength training, pole dancing and works as a pole instructor.
